Strolling through the city centre of Como is extremely pleasant: the Duomo with the Broletto, the Basilica of San Fedele, the elegant and picturesque squares dotted with boutiques, bars and restaurants.
Como, also known as the "City of Silk", is home to an interesting Educational Silk Museum: the only museum institution in the world able to tell the story of the silk production process from the silkworm, through hand printing to the fashion collections. The Museum collects, preserves and tells the story of Como's textile production tradition from the 16th century to the present day, with an exhibition of machinery, looms and fabrics. This technical and artistic heritage is organised in an educational space accessible to all.
