Lake Maggiore is a wonderful place to visit if you're travelling in northern Italy or Switzerland. And it is precisely the Swiss side of this lake that we recommend you visit with a day trip starting from our Resort: Parco San Marco, to admire the beauty of the lake while playing in the exceptional playgrounds.
First stop: Locarno and its splendid lakeside promenade, ideal for a panoramic walk which (in the direction of Muralto) meets a super playground, suitable for children of all ages.
Nets and ropes for climbing, swings and seesaws suitable for even the youngest children, young and old alike will love this playground overlooking the lake. Surrounded by well-kept, shady greenery, it's a pleasure to stop and play.
From here, the lakeside walk continues to Minusio, for those who wish to stroll in a relaxed environment that is certainly full of charm.
To convince the children to actually leave the beautiful playground, you could also suggest they visit the Locarno Falconry - a place where they can observe hawks, vultures and eagles flying free in a beautiful natural setting.
If you are visiting this area of Ticino on the shores of Lake Maggiore, we recommend that you also visit the beautiful Ascona, which can be reached in a few minutes by car from Locarno.
The village of Ascona has a unique charm with its many lakeside cafés and romantic old town. The narrow alleyways of the centre open out onto the large square overlooking Lake Maggiore, where there is a colourful playground to keep the little ones amused.
This play area is characterised by original and cheerful structures, slides and swings for swinging in the shade of tall palm trees and with a view of the lake, which is shown here in all its splendour.
An excursion between Locarno and Ascona will be a delight for everyone. Children will find plenty of opportunities to play before returning to Parco San Marco to resume their enjoyment of the pools, lake and endless opportunities for recreation that the resort offers to visitors of all ages.
