Cryptomère du Japon

It is a large evergreen tree that can reach heights of up to 40 meters, with a straight and slightly tapered trunk and reddish-brown bark. The crown is quite dense, with lanceolate leaves about 20 mm long, arranged spirally on the branches, light green and persistent for 4-5 years. The microsporophylls are grouped in catkins, while the macrosporophylls are arranged in a rounded cone. The fruits are small, globular cones with prickly scales at the apex, containing small seeds resembling those of the cypress.
