Whorled Watermilfoil
Myriophyllum verticillatum, commonly known as whorl-leaf watermilfoil or whorled water-milfoil, is native to North America, North Africa, and Eurasia. It resembles northern water milfoil (M. sibiricum) and is often confused with invasive milfoils like Eurasian water milfoil, Variable water-milfoil, Parrot feather, and hybrid water milfoil.
It has become an invasive aquatic plant in many areas, spreading due to increased water sports activities. The spread of milfoil can extend across vast distances. Its similarity to other species makes identification challenging for the untrained eye.
