Chinese Windmill Palm or Chusan Palm

The plant is a small palm usually 4-12 meters tall, with a trunk covered by the frayed remains of leaf bases. The leaves are fan-shaped, 60-90 cm wide, with petioles 40-90 cm long and without hooks, distinguishing it from Chamaerops humilis. The male flowers are yellow and the female flowers are greenish, 2-4 mm in diameter, borne on branched spadices up to 1 meter long. The fruits are kidney-shaped drupes varying in color from yellow to black, about 10-12 mm long, and appear in clusters.
